When kids see a theme park, they see games, roller coasters, and cotton candy as big as their head. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) sees the long-term effects of replacing negative experiences – such as a summer spent alone - with positive experiences they’ll never forget.
We’re making every summer the “Best Summer Ever” for our Littles. Because we know that positive experiences and role models help to combat trauma with opportunity, giving kids something to look forward to and someone they can count on.
Last year hundreds of matches RSVP’d to our Six Flags takeover, we doubled attendance at our annual Field Day, and gave away 1,200 backpacks at our Back-2-School Block Party.
To be able to bring the same energy and core memories this year, we’re going to need your support. Make 2026 the summer Littles will remember as their “Best Summer Ever.”
Opportunities for matches to come together for a group experience are proven to strengthen individual relationships, while building deeper bonds and sense of community among Bigs, Littles and their families. To a unite our community, BBBSChi is offering three standout events this summer to keep Bigs and Littles engaged and build lasting social connections.
In June, Field Day will bring matches together for a fun-filled day of activities to learn and play sports from pickleball to golf. Then in July, it’s the Great America Takeover when over 200 Matches, plus Littles on the waitlist, come together to enjoy once-in-a-lifetime thrills and laughter with their BBBSChi community at Six Flags Great America. Finally, in August, the Back-to-School BBQ Block Party is a BBBSChi community festival to kick the school year off with joy and excitement.
